What is physical therapy?
Physical Therapy is a medical profession that helps people with movement dysfunction as a result of pain, injury or weakness. A physical therapist is licensed by the State and either has their Masters degree or Doctoral degree in physical therapy.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Please bring your referral for therapy if you have one, a copy of your insurance card, registration paperwork, and a list of questions you may have for the physical therapist.
What happens at the first visit?
The physical therapist will perform an evaluation. In other words, they will try to determine the cause of the problem and what will be needed to make things better. Our goal is to make you feel better not only treating the symptoms but addressing the cause of the problem.
What should I wear?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Ideally, shoulder patients should wear tank tops or jogging bras, but loose, comfortable clothing will be okay. Lower extremity patients (e.g., hips, knees, ankles, feet) should wear shorts. Patients should also wear comfortable walking shoes or tennis shoes.
How long does a typical treatment session last?
Will I see the same therapist at each visit?
We make every effort possible to keep you with the same therapist that performed the initial evaluation. There may be circumstances that prevent this from happening, such as the patient’s schedule, therapist vacations, illness, or emergencies. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule to meet your needs.
How long will I need to attend therapy?
Every diagnosis and patient is different. Your therapist will be able to more accurately answer this question after the initial visit. The ultimate goal of physical therapy is no physical therapy!
What are the clinic hours?
Monday – Thursday 7 am – 8pm
Friday 7 am – 5pm and some Saturday mornings
Can I see the therapist without seeing a doctor?
Yes. The therapist can evaluate you without a referral but will typically need a referral to begin treatment. The therapist can identify the problem and assist you in contacting your doctor to obtain the referral needed to begin treatment.
Do I have to pay a co-pay or percentage every time I see the therapist?
It depends on your insurance company. We are required by your insurance company to collect co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance. Even if you have multiple visits per week, you will need to make a co-pay or co-insurance payment at each visit if required by your insurance company.
What if I cannot afford the cost of care?
Please let us know. We accept multiple methods of payment and offer payment plans to assist with your financial situation. We encourage and accept cash-pay patients and this may be more cost-effective than going the insurance route. Please contact us to discuss financial concerns.
Do you take my insurance?
Please contact the clinic for a current list of plans we accept.
What if my doctor wants me to go to another physical therapy clinic?
Be wary of any medical provider (including physicians and hospitals) that insist you go to a particular clinic. You have the right to choose where you obtain your medical services. You are free to go to any physical therapy clinic you choose.
Can I see a chiropractor and attend physical therapy at the same time?
Yes. We love our friends in different medical professions. It is always good to communicate with your medical team so all know who is treating you and what is being done to provide the best care possible and avoid duplication of services.
